Get found when people ask AI instead of Google

I'm an independent consultant working on generative engine optimization: the work of getting a business mentioned and cited when someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI answers for a recommendation.

Traditional SEO still sits underneath all of it, so I do that too.

What generative engine optimization actually is

General guidance, not a promise about any one site. AI assistants don't hand back ten blue links. They read a handful of sources, summarise them and name a few of them. GEO is the practice of being one of those sources.

  1. 01

    They retrieve, then they write

Most assistants search or pull from an index first, then compose an answer from what they read. If your page isn't retrievable or isn't clearly on-topic for the question, it never enters the answer.

  2. 02

    Answers are built from passages

The unit of value shifts from a whole page to a clear, quotable passage. Direct statements, defined terms and plain tables tend to survive summarisation better than long persuasive prose.

  3. 03

    Corroboration matters more than position

There's no position one. Models lean on sources that agree with each other, so consistent facts about you across your own site and third-party pages influence what gets repeated.

  4. 04

    The query is a conversation

People ask longer, messier, comparison-shaped questions. That means covering the questions around your product, not just the one keyword with volume attached to it.

Three ways I work on your visibility

Traditional SEO foundations

Technical crawlability, site structure, internal linking and on-page work. AI systems read the same pages search engines do, so a site that's hard to crawl is hard to cite.

  • Technical and structure review
  • Content and page-level optimisation
  • Fixing what blocks retrieval

Main focus

AI & LLM visibility (GEO)

Work aimed specifically at answer engines: how your brand is described, whether your pages are quotable, and where the gaps are between the questions people ask assistants and what your site actually says.

  • Prompt-level visibility checks
  • Answer-ready content and entity work
  • Consistency of facts across sources

Audits & advisory

For teams who already have people doing the work and need a second opinion or a direction. A review plus a prioritised list, or ongoing advisory alongside your in-house marketers or developers.

  • One-off audit and written findings
  • Ongoing advisory calls
  • Support for in-house teams

Who I work with

I'm one person working remotely, so I fit some companies better than others. Worth reading before you get in touch.

  • Small and mid-sized companies that want one specialist accountable for search, not a rotating team
  • Founders who sell something explainable, where buyers genuinely ask AI assistants for recommendations
  • SaaS, B2B services and ecommerce teams already getting traffic and now losing clicks to AI answers
  • In-house marketers who need a specialist on AI search to work next to them
  • Companies anywhere in the world who are comfortable working over calls, docs and email

If you'd rather have a large agency running paid media, design and content production under one roof, I'm probably not the right fit.

You work with me, not an account manager

The person you brief is the person doing the work. Nothing gets lost on the way down.

Direct access

You message me and you get me. No weekly status call where findings are relayed second-hand, and no junior picking up a brief they weren't in the room for.

Focused attention

GEO work needs real reading of your market, your product and how assistants currently describe you, so engagements get focused attention.

Honest scope

AI search is moving fast and nobody controls what a model says. I'll explain what's testable, what's an educated bet, and what I'd leave alone.

See what the work looks like

What the work looks like in practice

Much of the work is unglamorous: looking at how assistants answer the questions buyers ask in your market, and reading pages the way a retrieval system would.

AI visibility in assistant answers
Which prompts mention a brand, and which name a competitor instead, is a useful thing to look at.
Audit findings
In general, written findings are most useful when they're prioritised, in plain language, with a clear next step beside each point.
